Rewards For Creativity As NTC 2017 Awards Nomination Begins

Nigerian Teen Choice Awards (NTCA), an award that is aimed at celebrating, recognizing and rewarding outstanding teens/youths who have imparted positively in their various fields of endeavor hits Lagos for its 2017 edition.


This year’s event which is slated to hold on 5th August, 2017 at the Eko Hotel and Suite, Lagos with the theme, ‘Our lives online’ intends to create an opportunity for diverse talent to be showcased and rewarded. They would be raising the bar of the pre-event with 4 unique activities and over 50 categories for nominations this year with cash rewards for winners of each stage of the competitions.

Victor Atewe, Media Strategist of Nelz Global Concepts Ltd. award which has been passionately awarding outstanding teens since 2012 during a Press briefing at the Lagos Chambers of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) building, at Idowu Taylor, Victoria Island, yesterday Tuesday February 28, 2017 said; “NTCA which has held 5 successful editions to celebrate and encourage deserving teenagers and personalities in various categories including music, lifestyles, movies, media, education, fashion, innovation and others with over 300 awards is a brand that is keen on promoting and encouraging teens to ensure they feel the drive to do more.”

Victor said; “this brand is first of its kind in Nigeria and Africa and we can also state to or credit the attention of a growing number of 34,000 active teenagers and youth on all our online platforms.”
                                     
Project Manager, Blessing Okoh, said; “there would be underdog category this year. We want to go to the grassroots to bring out some unsung heroes. She said, with the growing need to diversify the Nigerian economy with the youth making up 70% of its population, this year’s theme ‘Our lives online’ will create an avenue for teenagers to creatively maximize their potentials and encourage online entrepreneurial skills for nation building and development of human resource; as there would be business talk from key players on how to positively utilize the online opportunities for genuine purpose.”

Chief (Mrs.) Yeye Adenike Sobajo, Vice President of LCCI, who was also present at the event to partner with the organizers also added that, as a corporate social responsibility advocator grandmother herself, she finds it necessary to help teens and youths who are creative but lacks support to bring out the creativity in them. “You will be surprised to see what some of these teenagers can do with proper support and encouragement. We are therefore, calling on all well meaning Nigerians to show their supports, encouragement and sponsorship.”
                        

“We have been doing these as parents for the past 5 years, now is the time for good Nigerians to come to our support. We can rescue these creative teens from those who might want to take advantage of their pathetic situations for their own selfish reasons by creating a platform through entrepreneurship for them to make a positive living.”

NTCA pre-event activities for 2017 are:

(a)    Kick the Ball: A sport project aimed at building champions through football competition among teens/youth at the grassroots level. This year’s competition will take place at Teslim Balogun stadium in Lagos. Registration is free with entries open for both individuals and teams for teens and youths who are Lagos residents only.

(b)   Nationwide Essay Competition: This is mainly for secondary school students in partnership with the Federal Ministry of Education with cash price as rewards.

(c)    NTCA Theme Song: This is an online competition for young music lovers and young talented teens. The winner would have his/her song selected as the official theme song for 2017 and will perform at the NTCA main award event at the Eko Hotel and Suite, Lagos.

(d)   There will also be a charity walk in July tagged ‘NTCA Gives Back’. This walk will be for orphanage home within Lagos.
